Haircuts do not have to be a fight
Some kids climb into the chair without a second thought. Others need real preparation. If your child falls into the second group, you are not alone, and there is plenty you and your stylist can do to make the day easier.
What we do differently
Our stylists slow down for nervous kids. We let them touch the tools first, sit in a parent’s lap if needed, and take breaks mid-cut rather than pushing through. None of this takes much extra time, but it changes how a child feels about the whole experience.
What parents can do before the appointment
Talk about the visit in simple, positive terms beforehand. Avoid words like “hurt” or “scary,” even to reassure, since kids often latch onto the word itself. Bringing a favorite toy or letting them choose their own seat can also help.
Consistency builds comfort
The biggest factor in reducing haircut anxiety over time is familiarity. Seeing the same stylist, the same chair, and the same routine each visit turns an unfamiliar event into a predictable one, and predictable is calming for most children.
If haircut day has been a struggle at your house, we would like to help. Book an appointment and let us show you a gentler way to do it.
